Saturday was one of those super special and unexpected nights out. One of those that when you are on your way to the party you are still full from dinner and questioning why are you even going out in the first place, but when you get home and the sun is up everything feels just right. 

I was able to finally catch TICKLAH spin at The Lake, one of my favorite musicians in New York hands down. From his keyboard skills wtih Antibalas, to his work with Amy Winehouse, to his solo Dub record, he is just quality. The dirty reggae party at the lake is just like no other party. There are always friends to chill with, get fuck up really really cheaply and dance. After getting a fucking ticket for public urination at 3am on the emptiest street in bushwick (cops are everywhere), we went to see Dj Rolando at Mr. saturday. He played with Detroit attitude while our buddy Steve was at the light control at house of yes. We danced until 6 am. Today i was thinking... i realized most people at The Lake would probably not enjoy Dj Rolando or expensive, trendy dance parties and most people at Mr. Saturday would probably think the Lake sucks and the music is boring and the place is dirty and there is no coat check, ect. But i thoroughly enjoyed BOTH so much. And I know some people would too, and we are probably friends :-) ....TICKLAH and DJ ROLANDO are so awesomely different! Ahhh! great times!

wow. the weekend is over...

What a great time. Friday, Darshan from metro area. Such a nice guy, seriously one of my all time favorite New York djs, always rocking only vinyl and such nice attitude all the time. Then saturday, Kai Alce played a super fun house set. Bringing memories of his Deep Detroit party on the D on may. The whole detroit crew was there. So many good tracks and friends, i was dancing sooo hard, it had been a long time. He is amazing, and also a really nice guy. It really is becoming so apparent: My favorite djs are always the nicest, most humble, chill people. Fuck all them pretentious motherfuckers and their fucking laptops.

I've been really into Happy REcords, The house division of Underground Resistance in the early through mid 90's. Yeah yeah, i know, old shcooll shit, what's the point, let's look forward. Whatever man, i enjoyed this so much, and i draw so much inspiration from it. I really wish i had some of these records. Its like NY house but rougher. Really great.

Oh man, it's been a while. pretty crazy month has gone by. I've had to stop work on my EP :-( , while i submerge myself into scoring a 20 minute film that is very music and sound driven. Without a doubt, it has been the most challenging music project i've been involved with. I've spent hours and hours in the studio trying different sounds, from acoustic guitars to vibraphones, to pianos to synths, but its all coming together in a  really good way and the director is really happy with the work. some randon videos  i did last night.

working sick hangover is one of the worst things one can do. fuck!@ im not sure why, but i feel like im getting worst and worst hangovers, don't know if its because im drinking more or im getting old or i don't know why but oh man, hangovers suck. memorable weekend tho. found an incredible singer to work with, saw numerous djs and incredible bands, like a fun music and dance marathon and actually i didn't spent that much money, sort of...

thanks to new york and my close friends for hanging out and making me feel like no matter what, beyond all the frustrations and problems we have, there will be music and friends to dance. i love you.

Weekends where I'm so glad to be in New York and feel so proud of my city! So much great music and things going on!! On a very very rare thing I happened to be on the list for two great parties. Got a pair of free tickets for Wolf+Lamb with Soulclap at Godunits!! such a great great party, never been able to see them but also my buddy Andrey is spinning warming up for the true King of Queens, Fred P at the Sound Noir party in Brooklyn, which i should really go since he came to my show and really liked it and i want to play at his party. Sounds so funny, like I'm so hip or something. Tomorrow Escort and midnight Magic, already got my ticket, incredible live music. And DJ Harvey will be on all night long at santos. Damn! New York is the fucking shit. Been working so hard in the studios the last 3 days, i want to go stupid this weekend and feel the love all around me. Its almost 7 and I'm not sure where to start. But one thing its for sure, this weekend, New York it's mine!

It's happening. I'm doing this.

Cinco de mayo. I'll have my EP ready and hopefully out. I'm putting out a 12" independently with my buddy Juanmapu, on our own imprint. Eventually i think it might get picked up and released digitally by who knows who. I'm doing this. it is happening. An I'm very very excited. Also my brother recorded a really great looking video of my entire show last week. I'm recording a really raw live track with the machines for it sometime this week. I just wished i didn't have so much school work. I know nobody reads this but it kind of makes me feel good.
